New Year New Skincare Habits

The start of a new year is always an exciting time when it comes to beauty. The new beginning brings attention to all the trends, new research, and product innovations that are set to come for the year ahead. 2019 was a pivotal year in integrating western and eastern skincare practices and we are here for it! Today we are going to discuss some of our absolute favorite skincare trends of 2019, as well as, the 2019 skincare habits that could be the reason you are not achieving your dream completion!

2019 Trends That We Loved:

Lymphatic Massage

Incorporating lymphatic massage into your skincare routine is an absolute game changer! This technique has been around in western medicine for centuries, and has an insane amount of benefits! By incorporating this into your routine for 5-10 min a day you can increase circulation, alleviate muscle tension (ie. reduce appearance of wrinkles), release endorphins (alleviates stress), detoxified skin (ie. acne and hormonal breakouts), and promotes absorption. Throughout your body, you have lymph nodes that store toxins and fat, which depends on mechanical intervention to break up the toxins to help clear them from your body! By applying a small amount of pressure in the areas outlined in the diagram below you can experience all of these benefits!

Skincare Tools

This has been another western medicine gem that is a skincare gamechanger! It's no secret we love skincare tools, half of our line is dedicated to them and with good reason -the benefits are incredible! Below, we listed some of our favorite skincare tools and their benefits:

1. Pulse Facial Massager

Applies micro-vibration technology to stimulate facial muscles in order to firm skin and improve skin texture. (Reduce wrinkles and fine lines, unclogs dirt, improves skin texture, workout for your face – tightens your skin, produces collagen and elastin)

2. Dermal Rollers

Dermal rolling is can be used for all skin types. Some of the main benefits are skin rejuvenation and tightening, reduced acne scarring, reduced appearance of hyperpigmentation, reduced appearance of enlarged pores, and reduced appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Dermal rolling also promotes better absorption of products, due to the channels created, allowing the products to penetrate your skin layers. We believe that dermal rollers are one of the best tools for helping improve the overall texture of your skin

3. Jade Rollers

Improves blood flow + increases collagen production & skin elasticity. Relieves facial muscles + makes your beauty products work better. Detoxifies the body by stimulating lymphatic drainage. Prevents fluid retention and decreases puffy under eyes. (Google)

4. Facial Cupping

The primary goal of cupping is to increase circulation where applied. This helps promote lymphatic drainage while also fostering cell repair and regeneration.

5. Ice Globes

This is an age-old trick that’s been used for centuries. It improves blood circulation to your skin and makes it bright. Applying ice globes to your face constricts the blood vessels, which initially lowers the blood flow to your skin. To balance that, your body starts circulating more blood to your face, which makes it lively and radiant. This will decrease swelling, as well as, leave your skin dewy, glowy, and supple.

Exfoliating Peeling Gels

This one may be one of the best things that came out of 2019! Exfoliating is an amazing technique for cleaning your pores, removing hyperpigmentation, and removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin! It’s is one of those techniques that is really easy to overdue, which can do more harm than good! Exfoliating peeling gels are a gentle way to exfoliate all the gunk out of your pores without the harsh scrubbing!

Light Therapy

This has been around for some time, but in 2019 it seems like this was a big rave, with good reason! There are a lot of different color options available but the two that have been the most researched are the following:

Red Light Therapy: This technology was developed by NASA and Is known for aiding anti-aging, reducing the appearance of marks and pigmentation, and healing.

Blue Light Therapy: Targets breakouts and improves skin texture

2019 Things Have to Go:

Over Exfoliating / Scrubbing hard

There is so much external stress that is placed on our skin from weather changes to scrapes and bruises that It is important that we are being gentle on the skin. Scrubbing harder doesn’t mean that it is cleaner and most likely you’re just irritating your skin.

Not being conscious of skincare ingredient

Did you know that there isn’t a tight regulation on skincare ingredients? This is pretty scary to think about considering that it’s our largest organ! Sadly, it is up to the consumer to do enough research to ensure that they aren’t putting harmful chemicals on their bodies! Do your research and patch test products to ensure that you are getting the most out of your products.

Not wearing sunscreen everyday

Did you know that 90% off all aging-related skin issues are due to sun exposure? It is extremely important to implement sunscreen, daily, even when it’s not sunny outside. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, you can get burned even on cloudy days.
